Restoring Vision & Dignity: Free Eye Cataract Camp Reaches 295 Rural Patients

“Conducted at Purajanghal LP School, the free screening camp diagnosed 295 patients and facilitated 35 sight-restoring surgeries for elderly residents and tea garden workers.”

On 7th December 2025, Nabaprayas Yuva Sangha organized the "Restoring Vision & Dignity" Free Eye Cataract Screening Camp at Purajanghal LP School in Morongi block, Golaghat.

Covering tea garden workers, senior citizens, and economically vulnerable families, specialist ophthalmologists screened over 295 patients for cataracts, refractive errors, and corneal conditions.

A total of 35 patients diagnosed with mature cataracts were facilitated for fully subsidized, sight-restoring microsurgeries, with post-operative medication and transport provided by volunteer squads.

This healthcare milestone directly tackles avoidable blindness in the Morongi block, restoring physical independence, livelihood, and quality of life to elderly community members.
